The Purgatory Challenge

The Purgatory Challenge is the ultimate test of human endurance! Athletes can race in one or two events, you don't have to race all three days..... but for the ultimate test, race in all three to become the Purgatory Challenge Champion. Prizes are awarded for each race as well as to the "Challenger" competitors (those that race all three races). The Challenger division will test athletes endurance in kayaking, mountain biking, and ultra running.

For those that race all three days, the winner is the one with the fastest cumulative time. The kayak race takes place on a flatwater river section, paddling upstream then back downstream. The 50 mile single track mountain bike race will test your mettle on the famous Hermosa Creek single track trail. Our marathon is the most spectacular backcountry single track marathon you will ever do!

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female athletes in each race as well as the the top three male and female overall Purgatory Challenge Champions.

Adventure Xstream Series & Checkpoint Tracker Series Points

Teams can accululate points for the Adventure Xstream Series and the Checkpoint Tracker Series. The cumulative time of all individual team members will determine team rankings/points for the series.

3 person teams will replace the 4 person category for points accumulation. Solos and 2 Person teams will be eligible for points as well. Points will be allocated as if each days race were a 6hr race, you can race in one, two or all three races. If you race in all three your point accumulation would add up to points equivalent to one 18hr race. Each races cummulative team time will determine the team ranking for each event.

(Note: for Checkpoint Tracker Points, you must do all three races)

Prizes will be awarded to individuals in each race and to individuals in the overal rankings of the Purgatory Challenge. Team prizes are not awarded per the Adventure Xstream Series, only points for series standings.
