For 2009 the Durango Adventure Race is being replaced with the 3 day Purgatory Challenge. All athletes will compete individually in the Purgatory Challenge.

Teams can accululate points for the Adventure Xstream Series and the Checkpoint Tracker Series. The cumulative time of all individual team members will determine team rankings/points for each days stage.

3 person teams will replace the 4 person category for points accumulation. Solos and 2 Person teams will be eligible for points as well. Points will be allocated as if each days stage were a 6hr race in terms of points, so if you raced in all three races you could earn up to 150 points, equivalent to an 18 hour race for points.

(Note: For Checkpoint Tracker Points, you must do all three races)

Prizes will be awarded to individuals in each race and to individuals in the overal rankings of the Purgatory Challenge. Team prizes are not awarded per the Adventure Xstream Series, only points for series standings.

• Friday - 14-20 Mile Up/Down Kayak Race (Flat Water).
• Saturday - 50 Mile Single Track Mountain Bike Race.
• Sunday - Off Road Mountain Marathon.
